Sharing Internet Connection to Android Devices via Cambrionix Hub

Windows

You can share your internet connection with your Android device using a USB cable through USB tethering. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Connect your Android device to your Windows PC:

    • Use a USB cable to connect your Android phone to your PC.

  2. Enable USB Tethering on your Android device:

    • On your Android device, go to Settings > Connections (or Network & internet, depending on your phone).

    • Select Mobile Hotspot and Tethering (this could be named slightly differently depending on your Android version and phone brand).

    • Toggle on USB Tethering. This allows your Android phone to share the internet connection from your PC via USB.

  3. Set Up Internet Sharing on your Windows PC:

    • On your Windows PC, open Settings.

    • Go to Network & Internet.

    • Select Mobile Hotspot from the left-hand menu.

    • Under Share my Internet connection from, choose the source of your internet connection (Wi-Fi or Ethernet).

    • Now, click on Change adapter options under Related settings.

    • In the Network Connections window, find your active internet connection (Wi-Fi or Ethernet), right-click it, and select Properties.

    • Go to the Sharing tab.

    • Tick the box next to Allow other network users to connect through this computer’s Internet connection.

    • From the dropdown menu, select the connection representing your Android device (it may be labelled as Remote NDIS or similar).

  4. Your Android device should now use your Windows PC's internet connection via the USB cable.

    • Your Android phone will display a notification indicating that it is tethering via USB.

macOS

You can share your internet connection with your Android device using a USB cable through USB tethering. Here’s how to do it on macOS:

  1. Connect your Android device to your Mac:

    • Use a USB cable to connect your Android phone to your Mac.

  2. Enable USB Tethering on your Android device:

    • On your Android device, go to Settings > Connections (or Network & internet, depending on the phone model).

    • Select Mobile Hotspot and Tethering (the exact name may vary by device).

    • Toggle on USB Tethering. This allows your Android phone to share the internet connection from your Mac via the USB connection.

  3. Enable Internet Sharing on your Mac:

    • Go to System Settings (or System Preferences in older versions) on your Mac.

    • Select Sharing.

    • In the Sharing window, check the box next to Internet Sharing in the list on the left.

    • In the Share your connection from dropdown, select your current internet source (e.g., Wi-Fi or Ethernet).

    • In the To computers using section, select USB or Android USB (the name of this option might vary depending on macOS versions).

    • Once selected, ensure the Internet Sharing box is ticked. It should turn green, indicating that sharing is active.

  4. Your Android device should now use your Mac's internet connection via the USB cable.

    • Your Android device will display a tethering icon or notification, confirming it’s using the shared internet connection.

Note: macOS might not natively recognise Android tethering as easily as Windows does. In some cases, you may need third-party software like HoRNDIS if you encounter difficulties.
